Local Development & Gender (LDG) is a small consultancy agency that executes projects and short missions in developing countries and transitional economies since the early 1990s.
Created and run by Francisca Quilaqueo-Spoor, its main preoccupation has been to contribute expertise in the field of local development and gender issues to organisations and institutions in developing countries in Latin America [such as in Nicaragua and Chile], and in transitional economies of Eastern Europe [such as Romania, Moldova and Ukraine].
Her work, in joint co-operation with assisting consultants relates to rural development projects, community development and indigenous people, project evaluation and monitoring, and gender & communication. LDG is closely working with local grassroots organisations that promote poverty alleviation, income generating activities for women, gender awareness building and community organisation. It has been client for several western NGOs and government agencies [see Projects & Missions].
